Police Response to Active Terrorists (PRATs© )-

This 8 hour training course identifies the differences between an Active Shooter and an Active Terrorist Attack. Although there are similarities in the two types of emergencies, each requires its own response plan. The PRATs course provides law enforcement with the information needed to understand when a terrorist attack is underway and when an attack is imminent. Specific details and case studies are used as examples and come not only from the United States but also from overseas. Based on these real world attacks, guidelines and suggestions are provided. By recognizing the terrorist's tactics and strategy, police officers can react in the most effective manner. An active shooter and an active terrorist attack have vastly different strategies and as such the typical police response to an active shooter will not be effective during terrorist attacks. This class is designed for patrol officers, SWAT Teams, and supervisors or policy makers. At the end of the seminar small group work and tabletop exercises are performed to give each participant experience in responding to acts of terror. Each course participant will receive a certificate of completion and classes can be certified to meet training requirements in every state.
